What are the components that make you want the best out of yourself?
I once had to sit down and ask myself that very question. As time went by there were two answers. My gorgeous Fiancé And our beautiful daughter Genesis was the first thing that came to my mind. These two people are the solid foundation that motivates me to be able to thrive as a father and soon to be husband. As far as becoming a accomplished writer goes. Growing up in Mt. Vernon, NY as a young man I felt like some of my past experiences should be brought to light. My love for English as a subject was just the icing on the cake to exploit my creative side.
I’m pretty much saying that to say this. In order to find your purpose in life you also need to find who or what it is that keeps you on your grind. Wether it’s working a daily 9-5 or even starting your own business. It’s always easy to find your passion in life. It’s harder to keep it. Whatever your passion is, just make sure you maintain that shit! Passion is the base of your purpose. Along the way of finding your purpose you will discover change.
Some times life forces you to change and you have to learn to adjust. January 22nd of 2016 my beautiful daughter was born. Christmas Day of the same year I proposed to the love of my life. This was the beginning of the change I didn’t realize was coming at the time. It got me out of my comfort zone and then I started to realize change could be a good thing. It’s more of a mental aspect before anything else. There’s going to be people who have opinions on how you should raise your child (some don’t even have children, funny right?) There’s going to be those who stop talking to you just because they can’t relate to you wanting love (something we all lack in this generation.) and that’s fine as well. As a parent you realize your children and significant other are your best friends and what matters to you and your family should always come first.
I’m currently writing a book called “Trials & Tribulations: A Way Out Of No Way” ( Chapters 1-7 are also available now on “Wattpad”). In this book Contains the main character Quincy (or Qwop, as the book progresses.) who struggles, with internal demons and trying to better himself as a man. ( A battle of the Known vs Unknown) Some times change can be scary and most times change is the tool that keeps us from chasing our dreams. The reason I call change a tool is because it can be utilized for positive or negative uses in your life. I use to be afraid of change, sticking with what I already know. No urge to try new things and explore. Multiple missed opportunities later I’ve begun to realize I’ll always be in the same place if I never took a chance at anything. Quincy is torn between the two aspects and in the book the previously stated dilemma constantly clashes with his mental.
Fortunately I was blessed to have both parents in my life. My dad wasn’t perfect but he worked hard to provide and always stood on his word, like a real man does. No matter the situation/circumstances my mom was always compassionate and loving, as a woman should be. These principles stuck with me and I try my hardest to carry them with me in my everyday life. They are prime examples of making something out of nothing. When I was 8, me and my 3 siblings shared a room within a two bedroom apartment. By the time I turned 16, my parents owned a house. Now at 25 they’re working on their 2nd home together. Seeing is believing and they are living proof that it can happen. My dads passion is to thrive, that’s what makes him happy. My moms passion is motivating my dad to do better and helping others. These two characteristics put together help them succeed as a whole.
We as people can be easily distracted by other things in life, it’s human nature. Haters, personal issues, family dynamics and etc. It’s never a excuse to stop pursuing your passion and then discovering your purpose. Everything is a process, but it also takes patience. Just remember passion compliments purpose.
This is my first blog and I hope you guys enjoyed reading it just as much as I enjoyed writing it. Thanks to the High Def NYC team for giving me the outlet to do so. God bless and let’s all continue to #BeInspired. It’s our time to thrive, motivate and succeed. Thank you.
